As India prepares for the grand festival of Durga Puja, Mumbai is gearing up to witness one of its most iconic celebrations—the Lokhandwala Durgotsav, which enters its landmark 30th year in 2025. What began in 1996 under the vision of acclaimed playback singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya has today grown into one of the most celebrated Durga Puja festivals in the country, admired for its devotion, artistry, and star-studded presence.

The 30th edition of Lokhandwala Durgotsav will take place from September 27 (Panchami) to October 2, at the Lokhandwala Durga Puja Ground in Andheri (West), Mumbai. Over the decades, it has transformed into a vibrant cultural hub where spirituality meets glamour. Devotees, Bollywood celebrities, political leaders, business icons, and sports stars all gather under one roof to seek Maa Durga’s blessings while soaking in the festive grandeur.

Famed for Abhijeet’s live dhaak and dhunuchi performances, the puja is equally beloved for its Bengali delicacies, from kosha mangsho and luchi to sandesh and mishti doi, which draw food lovers from all over Mumbai. Adding to the cultural richness are traditional shola artistry, lively performances, and buzzing food stalls that recreate the charm of Kolkata in the heart of Mumbai.
Reflecting on the milestone year, Abhijeet Bhattacharya shared, “Celebrating 30 years of Lokhandwala Durgotsav is a moment of pride and gratitude. What began as Mumbai’s largest Durga Puja pandal has now grown into an international celebration that unites tradition, artistry, and generosity. To see people travel from across India and abroad to be part of this festival is deeply humbling. This legacy of blending Bengal’s heritage with Mumbai’s vibrancy will continue for decades to come.”
