Luv Israni, the producer of KINK Season 2, is a distinguished fashion and advertising photographer, filmmaker, and producer known for his striking visual storytelling. His journey began in 2005 as a photographer, capturing models, children, portfolios, and magazine projects. Over time, his work evolved into advertising campaigns, ultimately leading him to film-making.
“Photography was a stepping stone for me,” Luv shared. “Even before I picked up a camera, I aspired to be a filmmaker. Photography was my gateway into that world. I started with music videos and TV commercials, and today, I’m working on OTT platforms and feature films.”
His fashion sensibility has played a pivotal role in shaping his creative vision. “Understanding fashion styling has given people confidence in me, even as a director,” he explained. “For instance, when I directed digital films with Rakul Preet, they trusted my photographic eye. When I worked on music videos for T-Series in 2019, they told me their singers had never been presented the way I showcased them. Even Sachet-Parampara, the duo behind Bekhayali from Kabir Singh, mentioned they had never looked that way before.”
Luv’s ability to enhance individual styles has been recognized by platforms like Atrangii, which entrusted him with shows like Flaunt and KINK due to his unique and impactful approach.
Despite transitioning from photography to film-making, his core creative process remains unchanged. “I’ve always seen stories within a frame. Whether it’s a single photograph or a moving image, my perspective stays the same,” he said. “In photography, you have one shot to tell a story; in film-making, you have the luxury of motion to expand it.”
His shift to production has introduced new challenges, particularly because he approaches it more as a director and creator than a traditional producer. “Many producers excel at handling the financial and logistical aspects, but I consider myself a creative producer,” he admitted. “On KINK 2, I’m known as the sole driving force behind the show, but my mindset has always been to create content at the level of Netflix or Amazon, even when working with Atrangii.”
When it comes to collaboration, Luv finds it seamless due to his deep involvement in every stage of production. “On KINK, my DOP never had to explain lighting setups to me because I already understood them. There was no disconnect,” he noted. “I also focus on every detail—my stylist worked for three months to develop a mood board for each participant. My goal is always to make my actors look their best. Since I grasp the creative process so well, I can collaborate effortlessly with directors, writers, and actors.”
With his distinct approach and passion for storytelling, Luv Israni continues to push creative boundaries across photography, film-making, and production.
