Actor Amal Sehrawat, known for his performances in films such as Sarkar 3 and Satya 2, as well as popular television shows including Chotti Sarrdaarni and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, believes that self-doubt is an inevitable part of every artist’s journey. However, he credits meditation for helping him navigate those challenging phases with greater clarity and resilience.
Reflecting on the emotional highs and lows that accompany a career in the entertainment industry, Amal Sehrawat shared that no actor is immune to moments of uncertainty. “I don’t think there is anyone in this industry who has never experienced self-doubt. I certainly have. What has helped me the most is meditation, which I practise every single day. It doesn’t magically erase problems, but it creates enough distance from them to allow you to think clearly. Instead of feeling overwhelmed, you begin to understand the situation objectively and identify what truly needs to change,” he said.
For Amal, meditation is not merely about finding peace; it is about cultivating mental clarity and the strength to keep moving forward despite setbacks. That inner steadiness has played a vital role in his personal and professional growth.
One of the most treasured milestones of his career came when he shared screen space with legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan in Sarkar 3. Recalling the experience, Amal described it as deeply emotional. “My entire family has admired Amitabh Bachchan for as long as I can remember. Standing beside him in a scene was surreal, but the most unforgettable moment was witnessing my parents’ reaction. The pride and joy on their faces meant more to me than the achievement itself. It filled me with gratitude and motivated me to work even harder so I could give them many more moments like that,” he shared.
Discussing the evolution of the entertainment industry, Amal believes the fundamental values of professionalism, punctuality, and respect for one’s craft remain unchanged. What has transformed, however, is the accessibility of opportunities. “Earlier, actors had to be physically present in Mumbai to be considered for most projects. Today, auditions can be recorded and submitted from anywhere in the world, opening doors for talented individuals who may not have had the resources to relocate,” he explained.
At the heart of Amal’s artistic philosophy lies an enduring sense of curiosity. He believes growth stems from observing people, understanding human behaviour, and remaining open to life’s countless experiences. “The day you stop being curious, you stop growing. Every person carries a unique story, and as actors, our responsibility is to understand those stories with honesty and empathy. Growth comes from conversations, travel, failures, observations, and experiences. I simply try to remain open to all of it and allow it to enrich my work,” Amal concluded.
